How is a Person Saved

If you have been led to this page it is not by accident. God is the one who right now is opening up your heart to Christ because of the work of the Holy Spirit working in you. He is the one who shows us our need and desire to come to Jesus Christ.

True conversion is then embracing Jesus Christ as He is freely offered to us in the gospel, the "Good news".

You see the Father has fulfilled His promise to send a Savior, (His only Son) to rescue us from our desperate plight.

First,  our condition

The Bible says,

Ro 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (NAS95)

Sin is anything we do that breaks God's law. Sin is what separates us from God. Each of us has sinned in our thoughts, word, deeds, and motives in our hearts. If you have ever lied, cheated, stolen something, said something hurtful about someone else, misled someone, used profanity, you have sinned.

You may say well, "I'm a good person"  "I help people", "I go to church from time to time"

The Bible says,

Ps 53:1 The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God," They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good.

Ps 53:2 God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God.

Ps 53:3 Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. (NAS95)

Listen, even if you and I kept all of the Ten Commandments and broke only one of them we would still be guilty before Holy God.

The Bible says,

Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

Jas 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.(NAS95)

Jas 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yetstumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.

We will never be able to get into heaven by being good people.

You see, we can't earn our way in.

Each of us were born with a sin nature. We inherited it from our first parents,

Ro 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--

My Friend, we need to see how serious the condition of our life is to understand the need for a savior. Without Christ, we are on our way to Hell, forever separated from Christ. The Bible tells us that there is a payment for our sins,

Ro 6:23 For the wages, (payment) of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I hope you now see how hopeless our condition is without a savior. Listen; there can be no genuine faith without repentance.

If God is working in your heart right now, there is already something alive and going on inside you calling you to turn away from sinning to turning to God.

Second, The solution

It is God the Father who sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die on that Cross for our sins.

 The Bible says,

Ro 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1Pe 3:18 ¶ For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; Ro 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. (NAS95)

Read what Romans 4:25 tells us

Ro 4:25 He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.

Third, Our response

The Bible tells us what we need to do in response to our condition. We need to repent, that means that we need to turn away from sinning continually and turn to Christ.

Ro 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Ro 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteousto forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NAS95)

Ac 26:18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.'

Your hope, my hope is only found in one place and that is with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When a person dies he is going somewhere. He will either be in heaven with the Lord or in hell, eternally separated from Christ, no exceptions.

The Bible says

Joh 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (NAS95)

1Jo 4:9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, thatGod has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
